Ethics and compliance week 2024

Ethics and compliance week 2024

The Legal and Compliance team hosted their annual Ethics and Compliance week  from 25 November to 29 November 2024 under the theme “ Ethics in our everyday lives”. This year’s event was graced by the Honourable Dr Naledi Pandor as our guest speaker. She sat down for a conversation with our Corporate Affairs Executive Ms Victoria Mojuto on ethics and its implication for corporates in South Africa. Dr Pandor is a seasoned politician and a beacon of ethics having been a cabinet Minister from 2004 to 2019 being at the helm of various portfolio such as Education, Home Affairs, Science and Technology and recently International relations.

Dr Pandor shared amongst others the importance of balancing ethical culture and moral compass, the need to protected company’s reputation as a necessary imperative for ethical conduct and ensuring concise clear process and policies for purposes of accountability, transparency and reporting.

Dr Pandor’s message was simple: Think carefully around the multiplier effect of engaging in an unethical conduct. The impact on one’s reputation, bring the Norcors into disrepute and thedemoralising effect on the broader team within one’s working space. Dr Pandor concluded her message by saying ”Do not do it“.

Thank you to all empoyees that attended the event and we trust that the message  was relayed and shed light on the importance of embedding ethical culture.
